Types of Vodafone Broadband Packages

Vodafone is the UK's largest full-fibre provider. In simple words, standard fibre broadband is when data is sent down a fast fibre-optic cable to the cabinet in your street but then switches to slower, copper wires to deliver the data into your home. In contrast, full-fibre uses fibre-optic cables that run directly into your home, thereby offering faster speeds.

With Vodafone increasingly focusing on faster internet speeds, they no longer offer standard ADSL broadband packages but instead focus on fibre optic broadband across several packages. Let's take a look at the packages on offer.

Vodafone Superfast 1

Vodafone's entry-level package, Superfast 1, offers average download speeds of 36Mbps and upload speeds of 9Mbps. This package is best for households with moderate internet usage. For example, where you might want to browse the web, social media, stream in HD or do a little online gaming.

Vodafone Superfast 2

On the next level up, we have Superfast 2, which offers download speeds of 67Mbps and upload speeds of 18Mbps. Superfast 2 is a good option for larger households with multiple internet users, or smaller homes with heavy internet usage (4K streaming, online gaming, video calling).

Vodafone Superfast 100

Also in the Superfast category, we have Superfast 100. As you might have guessed, this package offers average download speeds of over 100Mbps, 102 Mbps, to be exact. With broadband of this speed, you can stream 4K, video call, and play games online on multiple different devices at the same time.

Vodafone Ultrafast and Gigafast Speeds

For households that need the fastest and most reliable internet available, Vodafone offers even speedier options. There are two package categories here, Ultrafast and Gigafast, with the latter being the faster of the two.

There are two Ultrafast options, Ultrafast 200 (average download speeds of 200Mbps) and Ultrafast 500 (average download speeds of 500Mbps). In addition, Vodafone Gigafast offers broadband with speeds of up to 900Mbps on a full-fibre connection. However, it's worth noting that Ultrafast and Gigafast broadband is only available in some areas of the UK at present, but they are working on expanding the service across the country.

Why Pick Vodafone Broadband?

Good Value For Money

For the quality and speed of broadband you receive, Vodafone packages are excellent value for money. If you compare Vodafone's plans to similar plans from other providers, you'll find that Vodafone's are typically significantly cheaper while offering comparable broadband speeds.

Truly Unlimited Usage

Vodafone offers truly unlimited broadband across all of its packages. This means there's no pesky usage cap you have to worry about and no limit on how much you can download. Equally attractive, there's no traffic management, so Vodafone will never artificially slow down your speeds.

Vodafone Rewards

Vodafone broadband is already cheap, but you can also get access to some fantastic rewards that can save you even more money. The rewards are updated regularly and change over time. Still, currently, you can get discounts on theme parks, zoos, and aquariums, as well as activities like paintball and bowling through Vodafone's loyalty program. Additionally, Vodafone often offers competitively priced broadband deals for its existing mobile customers.

Vodafone's Installation Process

Once you sign up for a package, Vodafone will send your router via the post. If you already have a phone line, you'll be able to self-install your broadband. However, if you don't have a phone line, you'll have to arrange for an engineer to come to your house and install one. It's also worth noting that there's no setup fee with Vodafone as long as you already have an active phone line.

Vodafone FAQs

What is the typical contract length for Vodafone broadband?

Vodafone broadband packages typically come with 24-month contracts. This is somewhat unusual in the industry, with most ISPs sticking to 12 or 18-month agreements. Crucially, Vodafone can change the price of your broadband during the contract period. However, they do also offer some fixed-rate options, although they are a little more expensive.

How good is the Vodafone router?

The Vodafone WiFi Hub is pretty basic. While it includes all of the features you need in a standard router, like dual bands (2.4 and 5 GHz bands), multiple gig ports, and beamforming, it doesn't support WiFi 6 or have extended range functionality. This isn't likely to be a problem for most customers, but it's worth considering if you're an avid internet user thinking of going for one of the top packages and need a router that can keep up. At the same time, nothing is stopping you from choosing your own router.

What does Vodafone broadband cost?

Vodafone offers some of the cheapest high-speed broadband on the market. For example, you can get Superfast 1 for £22 per month, Ultrafast 500 for £40 a month, and Gigafast 900 for £50 a month. Vodafone also offers 'Pro' versions of their packages with extra features like 4G broadband backup, 12 months of free Norton 360 Premium antivirus, and certain discounts. However, the Pro options are a little more expensive, starting from £30 per month instead of £22. *

What is the cooling-off period?

If you decide Vodafone isn't for you, you can cancel your service and return your equipment within 14 days of activation.
